The vraneli is the colloquial name given to a range of legal tender gold coins produced in Switzerland. It is officially known as the "Helvetia head", after its engraver. These coins circulated between 1897 and 1936, as well as in 1947 and 1949. The term Vreneli is reserved for the 20 franc coin. The 10-franc coin, on the other hand, is known as the "demi-Vreneli". A series of gold coins was subsequently minted. This series is called "Tête de Libertas", which is synonymous with Marengo in the Jura.
